India-UK Trade Ties Set for Fresh Push? Goyal Calls for Faster Business Cooperation
Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has called for deeper India-UK business cooperation, highlighting opportunities in fintech, insurance, cross-border payments, trade finance, healthcare and consumer sectors. Addressing the 16th session of the India-UK Joint Economic and Trade Committee business plenary in London, Goyal proposed stronger collaboration between London and GIFT City in Gandhinagar. He also stressed making the India-UK trade agreement easier for businesses to use through clear guidance on tariffs, rules of origin and documentation, including regional-language support. Goyal called for more sectoral roundtables, business delegations and participation in exhibitions to encourage new exporters and products to enter the UK market. The goal: turn the countries' shared trade vision into practical opportunities for businesses and workers.
